Where in the Wonderful World is Hubl?

1st June 2023

At Hublsoft, we are guided by a set of principles, which are vested in our Human First philosophy. This applies to more than just our  Decision Intelligence Platform, it encompasses everything we do –we place the Human at the centre of our world. During the summer of 2020, after months at home during lockdown we set the team a challenge and the first "Where in the World is Hubl?" was born.

The challenge encouraged the team to get physically active, providing a boost to their mental wellbeing, and raising some much needed funds for our charity partners. The result was an outstanding success in raising money for charity and bringing the whole team together and has been repeated every summer since. So far as a team, we have managed to run, cycle, paddleboard and walk over 41,000km around the world, which is more than the circumference of the earth, and raised a massive £3,300 for charity. Now in its fourth year, we introduce:

Where in the Wonderful World is Hubl?

This summer our mission is another virtual race around the globe. It’s an inclusive event, and whilst fundraising can be achieved by the usual and not so usual physical endeavours, so can participation in other challenges along the way, including brain teasers, creative challenges, scavenger hunts, and riddles.

From 1st June to 31st July, we will be racing from Alexandria, Egypt, back to our Head Office in York, UK. We have broken this incredible journey into three stages.

Stage 1: The Seven Ancient Wonders
Stage one will see the team on a historical tour of the seven ancient wonders of the world, starting with the Lighthouse of Alexandria before travelling on to The Pyramid of Giza, The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, The Colossus of Rhodes, The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, The Temple of Artemis and finally arriving at the Statue of Zeus in Greece. This leg will cover an impressive 4,994km across six countries and is steeped in history and culture.

Stage 2: The European Flower Trail
Taking a different tone, the tour's second stage will see the team racing through Europe and visiting some of the continent's most iconic flower locations. From sprawling fields of yellow sunflowers in the beautiful Italian countryside, to the sea of purple lavender in France, across to the iconic geranium window boxes in Austria, and the stunning crocus mountains in Poland before finally finishing our European bouquet in the vibrant tulip fields of the Netherlands. This second leg of the journey will take the team 4,757km across central Europe and eight more countries.

Stage 3: The Homestretch
The final leg of our epic challenge will be a 1,835km spirit back to the Hublsoft head office in York via the Northern French coast and some of Wales' most beautiful coastal Castles. Our monumental 11,586km journey will conclude at the Hublsoft Office at the University of York.

During this challenge, Hublsoft will be supporting three great charities hand-picked by team members. This year our company is supporting Macmillan Cancer Support, St Leonard's Hospice and Southmead Hospital Charity and aims to raise as much money and awareness for them as we can. If you can donate to one of these three great charities, please do so. Every little bit counts.

Wish us luck, and remember to check in with us in August to see how we got on.
